Swansea Football Club Inc. -
A Brief
History
LOCATION
Swansea Football Club Inc. is Located in Channel
Street Swansea, at the entrance of Lake Macquarie N.S.W. Australia.
FORMED
Soccer (Football) started
in Swansea with a junior club; formed in 1950 this club was caller
Swansea Workers Club until it changed its name to Swansea Junior Soccer
Club in 1974 and incorporated in 1988.
In 1973 a
senior club started, this club was called Swansea Workers Soccer Club
until 1984 when it changed its name to Swansea United Soccer Club and
then to Swansea United Soccer Club Inc.
The two clubs
then amalgamated in 1996 and was called Swansea Soccer Club Inc., where
players could progress from U/6 to senior teams within the one club.
In 2007 the club decided to change
its name to align with the world name and is now called Swansea
Football Club Inc.
CHANGES
Over the years we have
seen many changes to both the playing area and amenities.
From one ground with a weatherboard building which housed a canteen and
change rooms, to a complex which now has 3 full size fields with a
brick building for canteen, change rooms, gear shed and amenities.
Two of the fields now have lights with one of these being suitable for
night competition matches.
Future developments are
planed for the Chapman Oval Complex, these include making the No. 3
field larger, adding specialised Roo-Ball field for U6 & U7
teams, better lights, a cricket pitch and skate park, also new
amenities to accommodate the ever increasing female teams.
COMPETITION
Swansea Football
Club Inc. caters for male and female players from U/6's to O/35's.
We field teams in the Macquarie District Association, Newcastle Port
Stephens Association and Hunter Valley Association and senior Inter
District competitions.
PLAYING STRIP
Our club colours are sky blue and white shirts and
shorts with sky blue socks with a white top.
